The Bushmoot is an event that some of the group members attend that is long enough to allow us to enjoy a relaxed camp.
It is not strictly speaking a Steam Tent Co-op event but we have our own little corner that we can at least call home.
As so many of our shorter camps have been cancelled due to various factors the Moot has at least kept the flame alive to some extent.
We set out to build an atmospheric camp but were not really full steam, enjoying a more casual approach than at our own events.
A new feature of the camp is a large canvas shelter that we made to set up over the fire rig affording us better protection from the weather.
The Log built shelter was expanded with another tarp to provide a kitchen preparation area.
I took the Baker tent this time which I have developed a very practical set up for using the packing crates for shelving.
The Bushmoot is known for it’s workshops of course, mostly put on for free or at cost of materials.
One that Steve and I booked on for was making a Bat Detector device based upon the Raspberry Pi which was run by our good friend Tim Neobard.
An interesting project involving some new skills for me and tested successfully on the camp too.
Lanterns have been a feature of our camps from the very start and this year we have added a variety of interesting ones to the collection.
The atmosphere they lend to the camp in the evening is quite magical.
On one evening Katheryn held another Magic Lantern show which was well attended and enthusiastically received. ( I was helping so unfortunately did not get any pictures. )
A lovely camp with great company but also one that is making us consider the future direction of the group.
The logistics of putting a camp like this on are starting to out weigh the time spent actually enjoying the camp at shorter events. One of the best things about the Moot was having almost a fortnight on the ground which makes such logistic much more practical and palatable.
